What is Ayurveda ?

Ayurveda is a Vedic science that centers on Ayusha, which signifies longevity, life, and immortality. The Vedas are a vast corpus of knowledge that provides guidance on overcoming negative aspects and embracing positive ones. Ayurveda is a comprehensive set of principles that facilitate living a long and healthy life.

While the objective of all medical sciences is to maintain public health and manage diseases, Ayurvedic medicine has a more expansive purpose. It aims to preserve the health of the individual and combat ailments as per the Purusharthas – Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. Dharma refers to living according to one’s moral principles, while Artha entails earning wealth in a just manner. Kama is the satisfaction of the senses with earned wealth, and Moksha means leading a comfortable and joyful life in this world and finding bliss after death. In summary, Ayurvedic philosophy offers guidance on living a healthy life on Earth and achieving happiness in the afterlife.
